THE HUMONGOUS SADNESS.

I’m back with another featured character from our 8 BIT REBELLION game. “The Humongous Sadness” deserves its name, doesn’t it? I don’t even know if it’s a guy or a girl. All I know is that it is very big and very sad, and it says things like, “I think my cat is making fun of me behind my back.” I want to love The ‘Sadness and be its friend, but its general demeanor really brings me down, and I don’t need that kind of downer in my life, know what I mean?

8 Bit Rebellion Review by lpfreak4life

I think everyone knows the new Linkin Park Game 8 Bit Rebellion! for iPhone, iPod and iPad. Today I want to tell you something about the game and what my opinion about this game is.
With roundabout 144 MB it’s a very big download so it takes a little bit time for you to download it. It costs 3,99 € here in Germany and I think it’s a very good investment for all Linkin Park fans.
First of all you can choose in which district you want to live with your avatar. There are six different disricts where the guys of Linkin Park live. Than you have to go to the Casino Row, the district of Chester, to talk to him to get information about the evil Pixxel Corp. which wants to destroy the 8 Bit World. Chaz tell you, what you have to do. You have your first mission.
The whole game based on different missions, something easy, something difficult and at the end if you have done all of your missions you got the secret song Blackbirds. I think all of you know this song right now, but there’s a video especially for this game!

In the end I think it’s a pretty cool game, but it was too easy for me. I played the whole game in ca.half an hour and that’s sad because I thought that you can play more missions or minigames in the game but sadly there’s nothing like that.
The coolest thing in this game is, that you can chat with everyone who plays the game at the same time as you and you can buy some poster or stuff for your room to decorate it.
But the coolest thing is … Blackbirds. Yeah, I know it’s different than other songs of Linkin Park but I think it’s pretty awesome and I like the new sound.

I hope that I could bring you the game a little bit closer and you’ll probably download it =)

Linkin Park's new iPhone/iPod Touch game "8-BIT REBELLION!" is getting ready for a release in the next couple of weeks, and we want to give LPU members another opportunity to play the game before anyone else.

On Thursday, April 22 at 3pm, Warner Music Germany and Artificial Life will host an exclusive "8-Bit Rebellion!" presentation. LPU members will have the chance to learn more about the game and play it.

Major labels eager to enter iPad app marketplace: Mike Shinoda

DENVER (Billboard) – When avid technophile Mike Shinoda was approached backstage last year with an idea for developing a Linkin Park iPhone game, the band's co-frontman knew he wanted it to be more than just another run-of-the-mill artist app.

"It was important to us to do something creative and fun," he says. "We didn't want to throw a bunch of songs at the game, slap our name on it and cash the checks."

The result is "8-Bit Rebellion," a soon-to-be-released iPhone game with an iPad version on the way. Whereas most artist-branded games tend to be rhythm-based, "8-Bit Rebellion" is an action game that has users fighting enemies alongside members of the band. The soundtrack features several Linkin Park hits in both standard and 8-bit fidelity, plus an exclusive track, "Blackbirds," for fans who complete the game.

But according to Maryanna Donaldson, creative director of the game's developer, Artificial Life, the real innovation was the degree to which Linkin Park was involved. Each band member helped design a different "district" in which the game takes place, personalized to his individual interests. Shinoda designed the members' avatars and edited every line of dialogue. The process wound up taking the better part of a year, but Donaldson says the result sets a new bar for artist-branded apps.

"For it to be top quality and appealing to the fan, the artist should be very involved," she says.

Meanwhile, the band's label, Warner Bros. Records, is supporting the app's launch with a movie-style trailer that will run in the IGN gaming community as well as virally through Linkin Park's YouTube channel. There will also be a Web site where fans can create and post 8-bit avatars of themselves.

"We're treating this like the release of a Linkin Park album or song," Warner Bros. Records senior vice president of new media Jeremy Welt says.

With the “Linkin Park 8 Bit Rebellion”game coming out soon for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch, I thought we’d feature a few of the characters. I designed each of these guys; here’s an introduction.

Long ago, the world existed in 8 bit harmony…until PixxelKorp arrived. Now, you are the rebellion’s only hope to fight the evil corporation’s mass-brainwashing campaign.

PIXIE is PixxelKorp’s mascot. He’s soft and cuddly, and the kiddies love him. After all, he’s selling a highly addictive product. And if you mess with him, he will eat your brains.

Hi Everyone,

My bandmates and I are thrilled to announce our game, “Linkin Park 8 Bit Rebellion,” will finally be out late this month for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. In the game, you’ll battle enemies and solve mysteries in order to stop an evil corporation’s mass-brainwashing campaign. Here’s some other stuff you’ll find:

- an 8 Bit version of each member of Linkin Park
- new 8 Bit versions of some of our most popular songs
- characters and art designed by the band
- a brand new Linkin Park song, entitled “Blackbirds,” waiting for you at the end.

8 BIT REBELLION ON THE WAY

A quick “8 BIT REBELLION” update. Our new game, available for the iPhone and iPod touch, will be out soon. We’ve pushed the release back a few weeks because we’re testing the game. In fact, I’m playing the game right now, making sure everything looks good. So far, there are still some minor changes to make…and I’m taking notes. We don’t want to release it until all we’ve addressed as many issues as we can!

Also, many of you have asked about the game being available for other platforms, since you don’t all have iPods (although Steve Jobs is hoping you will reconsider, ha). We’re hoping to get it out for other mobile platforms after it debuts with Apple. No word on that yet; it may take a while. For now, it will only be available on iPod and iPod touch.

Lastly, let there be no confusion: the song we released for DOWNLOAD TO DONATE is not the same song as the one on the game. The song on the game is ANOTHER brand new Linkin Park song.
